Is this a translated guide from another country?

No. It was written in English, for the U.S. system, from page one.

Most electrical material you find online was written for a different voltage system, a different code and a different vocabulary — then translated. The gap shows up the first time you try to apply it on a real job.

Here the 120/240V split-phase system gets its own full chapter instead of a footnote. The terminology is the one you'll hear on a U.S. jobsite: hot conductor, grounded conductor, equipment grounding conductor, branch circuit, feeder, service equipment. I'm just starting out. Is this too advanced?

No — the series is built to be read in order, starting from zero.

Book 1 assumes no prior electrical knowledge. It starts with what electricity actually is and builds up to how a complete home is wired, from the utility connection to the last branch circuit.

Book 2 is where it becomes practical — it's the one you'll keep open on the job. Book 3 is the most technical, but every calculation is worked out in full on a real piece of equipment, so you follow the method instead of memorizing a chart.

If you're already working in the trade, you can start at Book 2 or 3 and use Book 1 as reference.

English isn't my first language. Will I be able to follow it?

Yes — and that's part of why it exists.

A large share of the U.S. residential trade is Spanish-speaking, and one of the hardest parts isn't the electrical work — it's the vocabulary. Knowing the concept in one language doesn't help when the inspector, the supplier and the plan all use different words.

The writing is deliberately plain and every technical term is defined the first time it appears. Book 1 includes a terminology reference so you can look up the exact U.S. word for something you already know how to do.

Does this replace the NEC or licensing coursework?

No, and it isn't meant to.
